Uganda has announced a partnership with Deborah’s Impact Projects Africa and the Africa World Training Centre to launch a national cybersecurity training program.
Given a recent cyber incident at the country’s central bank, the initiative aims to equip 200,000 young Ugandans with cybersecurity skills to enhance the country’s digital security while opening new employment opportunities.
“Our goal is to enroll 200,000 individuals, actively combating cybercrime and protecting Uganda’s cyberspace while reducing youth unemployment.” Hon. Janet Kataaha Museveni, the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports of Uganda.
The partnership marks a proactive step toward safeguarding Uganda’s cyberspace while empowering the next generation with valuable digital skills, fostering innovation, and driving economic growth.
A recent report indicates a huge cyber skills gap and initiatives like this bolster not only Uganda’s digital resilience but the world’s digital space at large.
