The Samsung A55 5G is a mid-range device designed to provide a flagship-like experience at an affordable price. The A series has always been popular for its build quality and value for money, particularly among Ghanaians. In this article, we will cover everything you need to know about the Samsung A55 5G.
Specs
Most people argue the Samsung A55 is no different from last year’s A54 which is true to some extent but it’s doesn’t fold the truth up that there’s an improvement.
Call it a mid-range phone with a premium design, the Samsung A55 is built with glass both front and back with an aluminium frame. It has a bigger screen compared to last year’s A54 featuring a 6.6-inch, 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution 120Hz AMOLED display. Supports an IP 67 water and dust resistance so worry less when water or dust sneaks in. Fun of fingerprint? It has an On-display fingerprint.
Away from the design, let’s focus on the performance. Built on Exynos 1480 chipset, it is more powerful than A 54’s processor. It also runs Samsung’s One UI 6.1 on Android 14 and Xclipse 530 GPU which enhances your gaming experience. Storage is 128/256 GB expandable through micro SD and its battery capacity is 5,000 mAh. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support wireless charging but the 25 watt fast charging can fully charge it within an hour and few minutes per GSMArena test.

Camera specs is one feature that interest people a lot these days. You might be expecting an upgrade in the camera features but nothing changed the features remained the same from the A 54 which is 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/1.56″, 1.0µm, PDAF, OIS 12 MP, f/2.2, 123˚ (ultrawide), 1/3.06″, 1.12µm 5 MP, f/2.4, (macro).
The phone has most software features from Samsung excluding the AI features which are reserved for flagship phones. Samsung is giving the A 54 4 years of major OS support and 5 years of security patch. It has an improved speaker and supports 5G of course but falls short with e-sim.
