In the rapidly evolving field of cybersecurity, gender diversity remains a significant challenge. Her CyberTracks, an initiative launched by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in collaboration with GIZ and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), aims to bridge this gap by offering specialized training and mentorship to women aspiring to build careers in cybersecurity.
Her CyberTracks is structured into three specialized learning paths—referred to as CyberTracks—each catering to different aspects of cybersecurity:
1. Policy & Diplomacy CyberTrack
This track is designed for women involved in cybersecurity policymaking, digital governance, and international cyber diplomacy. It provides training on:
- Cybersecurity policy frameworks and international cooperation.
- Soft skills such as negotiation and leadership techniques.
- Networking and cross-regional collaboration.
2. Incident Response CyberTrack
This track is for IT professionals and entry-level responders in CERT (Computer Emergency Response Teams) and SOC (Security Operations Centers). It offers:
- A strong foundation in cybersecurity and incident response.
- Practical hands-on training with tools used in real-world cybersecurity incidents.
- Communication and teamwork skills necessary for efficient crisis management.
3. Criminal Justice CyberTrack (Implemented by UNODC)
Tailored for women in the criminal justice sector, this track focuses on cybercrime investigation and prosecution. Participants will learn:
- Cybercrime typologies and legal frameworks.
- Practical training on cybercrime investigation techniques.
- Professional development, networking, and teamwork skills.
Core Pillars of Her CyberTracks
Her CyberTracks is built on three fundamental principles:
1. Training
Participants receive expert training courses that equip them with both technical skills and essential soft skills, ensuring they are well-prepared for cybersecurity roles.
2. Mentorship
The program fosters professional and personal growth by connecting junior-level women with senior professionals in cybersecurity for guidance and career support.
3. Inspiration
Through keynote webinars, networking sessions, and community engagement, the initiative works to change perceptions and elevate women’s visibility in cybersecurity.
Who Can Apply?
The program is exclusively for women residing in targeted countries across Africa, Europe, CIS, Arab, and Americas regions.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must have a good working knowledge of English (some sessions provide French interpretation).
- Willingness to commit approximately 15 hours per month for the duration of the program.
- A stable internet connection and a computer for online participation.

Why Her CyberTracks Matters
Cybersecurity is an ever-growing field, yet women remain significantly underrepresented. Her CyberTracks is not just about training; it is about creating a future where women lead in cybersecurity, contribute to global policy discussions, and drive critical security operations.
With the support of the German Federal Foreign Office, this initiative is set to shape the next generation of female cybersecurity professionals, ensuring a more inclusive and diverse industry.
If you are a woman looking to break into cybersecurity, specialize in policy, or enhance your skills in cybercrime investigation, Her CyberTracks offers the opportunity to gain expert knowledge, mentorship, and a strong professional network.
