The full global rollout of Ghana Card registration and issuance to Ghanaians abroad began on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, in Denmark after a successful pilot registration in North America.
After successfully rolling out Ghana card in the country, the National Identification Authority (NIA) aims to register all Ghanaians living abroad through this initiative.
Berlin, Amsterdam, Rome, Brussels and Paris will be next after the registration in Denmark.
How to apply for a Ghana card abroad?
Ghanaians abroad must do the following to apply for a Ghana card:
• Visit the web portal at www. register.nia.gov.gh
• Follow the guidelines and complete the application form
• Upload the required documents and submit them.
• Book a virtual interview for application review.
After the interview, visit the Ghana Mission for biometric capture, using the encrypted QR code received via email.

Who is eligible for Ghana card registration?
Ghanaians above the age of six are eligible for Ghana card registration.
They must have a valid:
• Ghanaian passport
• birth certificate
If you are a dual citizen, you are eligible for registration if you can prove your Ghanaian nationality.
Take note of this:
• Individuals who have renounced their Ghanaian citizenship are not eligible.
• Non-Ghanaian spouses are also not eligible.
